Afternoon in The New World

One of the first things i’ve visited in Warsaw is Nowy Swiat, one of the best streets in town.It means The New World and this is one of the names that make your mind run free to discover why it is like it.I’ve made some theories too of course and the different options i have now are:
1)It is named like this because it’s the core of a very modern area full of skyscrapers and other technological buildings
2)It is a symbolic and hopeful name to certificate the renaissance of this city after the Second World War
3)It just sounded like a cool name!!!
While walking lost in my thoughts at a corner of the street i see a journalist ready too shoot a service.Hey but he is the one i’ve seen yesterday in Wiadomosci(the polish word for Tv news),and this is of course another sign that i am living in a capital city.Nowy Swiat is a very nice district, you find a lot of cool cafes in here, fashion shops and even a Nespresso boutique(is there any limited edition now??I miss that rich and full bodied taste but i am used to polish kawa now). There’s a street market this afternoon, and of course it’s worth a look, even if it’s too crowded and i don’t like to be in messy places with people pushing around, but my mind gets distracted by the huge number of hand-made traditional products and by the polish different types of fresh made breads and sausages.Even if i don’t like to act like a normal tourist, and i’m not either a tourist here,i break my rule to make some good pictures, just like the group of spanish people is doing next to me.There are a lot of restaurants in Nowy Swiat, and a lot of them are italians(here we go again),they have a sign out the entrance,WOODEN OVEN MADE PIZZA,and if i wasn’t that hungry i’d try it.My eye gets caught by a restaurant, named Corleone, and the ones who know me understand why,i really like that movie trilogy,i am a great fan of Marlon Brando so i HAVE to go there(does this make sense?).A quick look at the menu and…Wow they have gnocchi(typical italian food made out of potatoes and flour and cooked in tomato sauce),maybe they won’t taste like my grandmother’s ones but i wanna give it a go.And it was worth it,i have to say, they tasted great and actually made my day.I go back home thinking that in the end few things are needed to make an italian man happy, and today i got them all.
